Eternal Spring

In 1992, Li Hongzhi founded the Falun gong in China, a spiritual movement that values truthfulness, compassion and tolerance - not exactly values with which the Chinese government has much affinity. The movement was banned in 1999, followed by smear campaigns and persecution. In March 2002, some adherents hijacked a television station and broadcast a film in which they tried to refute the government's lies; the Chinese government reacted harshly. Falun Gong practitioner and cartoonist Daxiong, who fled in time to the US, blames the hijackers for making the situation for Falun gong followers so much worse. But then he meets one of the hijackers, the only one who survived.

Jason Loftus' second, critically acclaimed film combines live action with 3D animation to tell an impressive story of resistance and determination, a story about the struggle for political and religious freedom. Daxiong's art is the main source of inspiration.
