Another Day of Life

In 1976, Jeszcze dzieƄ ĆŒycia appeared by the legendary and much acclaimed Polish journalist Ryszard KapuƛciƄski (1932-2007). In his book, published in English as Another Day of Life, KapuƛciƄski gives an account of the Angolan struggle for independence and the ensuing civil war in the 1970s - an impressive report, both in journalistic and literary respect.

In September 1975, KapuƛciƄski arrived in the Portuguese colony of Angola, where the freedom struggle had entered its final phase. Two months later the Portuguese left, leaving the country in chaos. An armed conflict broke out between the two main warring factions, after which KapuƛciƄski decided to visit the front as the only foreign journalist. In his twenty-year career as a reporter, it would be his toughest journey.

In their first long film, directors Raúl de la Fuente and Damian Nenow have turned the account into a beautiful, partly hallucinatory animation combined with images of those involved at the time. Winner of the Best European Animated Feature Film 2018.
