Valley of the Gods

The southeast of Utah features a vast, monumental landscape – the Valley of the Gods, land that is sacred to the Navajo, the rock spires containing the spirits of their ancestors. Here advertising copywriter John Ecas arrives at the estate of Wes Tauros, the world's richest and a mute man. Just having been left by his wife, Ecas has come at the invitation of Tauros, who wants him to write his biography. Meanwhile, Tauros' company is acquiring the mineral rights to the Valley of Gods to mine for uranium. To this end, they will have to dig tunnels through the sacred lands, a move upsetting the Navajo ancestors.

Polish director Lech Majevski, whose The Mill and the Cross was previously shown in Dutch cinemas, interweaves three storylines for this occasionally bizarre film, doing so in visually grand style. Featuring Josh Hartnett as Ecas and John Malkovich as Tauros.
