Due to the lockdown, Rialto will be closed until January 20th. This means that today there are no screenings.
Hope
Returning home after a triumphant international tour of her dance troupe, Anja finds her husband Tomas, a theatre director, working late – he is an incorrigible workaholic, much to her chagrin. They have a family with five children – three from their own union and two from Tomas' previous marriage. Shortly before Christmas, Anja's physician gives her a dire diagnosis: she has an inoperable brain tumour and doesn't have long to live. She only tells Tomas, though he proves to be of little help. Their relationship is put to the test.
In her second, self-written film Hope, director Maria Sødahl tells a moving story about love and what happens to love when you only have a very short time left to live. It is a story based on her own experience: nine years ago Sødahl herself was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. She survived against all odds. Also awarded at the most recent Berlinale.
