A Hero
Once, the divorced Rahim borrowed money from a loan shark. Because he could not pay back the money, his brother-in-law took over the debt. Of course he wanted his money back, but Rahim could not repay the debt to him either - and so Rahim ended up in prison three years earlier. During a two-day furlough, his new girlfriend tells him that she has found a bag containing gold coins. This would allow him to pay off his debt, but he decides to do something completely different: through posters, he searches for the rightful owner of the gold. Such honesty is well received by the public, Rahim becomes a folk hero. However, a few things do not add up.
Iranian director Asghar Farhadi already proved with A Separation and The Salesman, both Oscar-winning films, that he can tell compelling stories about social and moral issues with a simple premise - A Hero is no exception. Awarded the Grand Prix at Cannes.
