On 24 August, the closing night of World Cinema Amsterdam 2019, the juries awarded various prizes.
For example, the World Cinema Jury Award went to the Mexican La camarista of Lila Avilés. The prize was received by lead actress Gabriela Cartol. The Jury gave a Special Mention to the Brazilian Divino Amor by director Gabriel Mascaro.
And then we also had a new prize: the World Cinema Exchange Award intended for a film that encourages reflections on the nature of being human. This prize, awarded in collaboration with Het Filmgesprek (The Film Talk), went to the Turkish A Tale of Three Sisters by Emin Alper.
There is another prize: the World Cinema Audience Award. Which film was best appreciated by the public? The winner will be announced on Monday.
