Flemish writer Lize Spit's debut novel, Het smelt, was published in 2015. The novel became a bestseller in Belgium and in the Netherlands. The also Flemish director Veerle Baetens, best known as an actress, filmed the novel after a screenplay she wrote herself together with Spit and Maarten Loix. It is her feature film debut.
Eva has a casual job with a photographer in Brussels, but not much else - she is lonely.
