Humanist Vampire Too Sensitive to Kill

That a film about vampires does not necessarily have to be a horror film became clear with Sweden's 2008 Let the Right One In, about the friendship between an insecure boy and a somewhat strange girl who turns out to be a vampire. Canadian director Ariane Louis-Seize puts a new twist on the vampire genre in her debut film: Humanist Vampire Too Sensitive to Kill is a true romantic comedy. This 'twist' earned her four film awards at the last Venice Film Festival, among others.

Sasha is a sensitive, empathetic teenage girl; good qualities you'd think, but her parents think it's a disaster. After all, they are all vampires and to get food they will still have to kill a human every now and then. Until now, they did that for her, but she has to do it herself now, they think. Then Paul comes into Sasha's life, a depressed adolescent who is fed up with life. As far as he is concerned, she may bite him.
