Inexorable

Writer Marcel Bellmer once celebrated great success with his debut novel Inexorable, but a writer's block stands in the way of a successful sequel. In the hope of breaking that block, he, his wife (and publisher) Jeanne and their little daughter Lucie move to the enormous country house Jeanne inherited from her father. One day, their dog runs away, but luckily the animal is found by one Gloria, a young woman with a sad story, which arouses Jeanne's pity. But she also turns out to be a big fan of Marcel's novel, which flatters him. Lucie likes her and so the Bellmers decide to take her in as a nanny. But who have they actually taken in? The young Lucie is the first one to notice there is something fishy.

Belgian director Fabrice du Welz already proved in 2004 with the nerve-racking Calvaire that he can make an exciting thriller. In the oppressive Inexorable, co-written by himself, the lead role is played by Benoît Poelvoorde.
