Eo
The little donkey Eo, pronounced as the animal's braying, has been performing in a circus for years where he is surrounded with love and care by his caretaker Kasandra. One day, however, all the circus animals are confiscated by the authorities and animal activists. Eo ends up on a small farm where he is used as a 'therapy donkey'. After receiving an unexpected visit from a drunk Kasandra one evening, the animal takes off. It is the beginning of many wanderings, which include him serving as the mascot of a football club, ending up in the truck of a meat supplier and finding shelter at the estate of a countess (Isabelle Hupert). The longer the journey takes, the darker it gets for four-legged Eo.
In this self-written story, veteran director Jerzy Skolimowski uses an endearing and above all innocent animal to show how things are with a less innocent creature: man. Winner of the Jury Prize, Cannes 2022.
