Toen we van de Duitsers verloren

8 July 1974, the day after the dramatically lost World Cup final between West Germany and the Netherlands. The streets are quiet and everyone and everything in town is hungover. Jonas runs into Daan and although they are not friends, they hang out together on this dull summer day. This is because they are both looking for their classmate Karsten, each with their own reason. Meanwhile, Catootje's disappearance hangs over the boys like a dark cloud. Some summers you never forget.

After The Resurrection of a Bastard (2013), this is the second feature film by director Guido van Driel, who based the screenplay on his 2002 graphic novel of the same name, a story about secret love and secret obsession. He himself wrote that screenplay, again together with Bas Blokker. Sanne Vogel, Kylian de Pagter and Rein Hoeke play the leading roles in this drama shot in beautiful black-and-white.
