Des Teufels Bad
Upper Austria, 18th century: deeply religious Agnes marries the taciturn Wolf and moves in with him, in a cottage that has only recently come into his possession. But the marriage does not bring what she hoped for. Not only does Wolf seem to care more about the cottage than about her, the presence of her mother-in-law GĂ€nglin, who lives nearby, is also a real torment; she is constantly nagging. Agnes can't do anything right in her eyes, even though she works very hard every day to keep the household going. Agnes misses the warmth of her old home, but keeps hoping things will get better. But it doesn't get better - she sinks into a deep depression.
What does it mean to suffer hopelessly? Directors Severin Fiala and Veronika Franz show it in this bleak drama written by themselves. The lead role is played by Anja Plaschg, who also wrote the soundtrack. Renowned director Ulrich Seidl co-produced the film.
