The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim
In 1937, British writer J.R.R. Tolkien began work on what would become his magnum opus: The Lord of the Rings; he completed the work in 1949. The trilogy was (and is) a huge success and has been translated countless times and, of course, a film adaptation was bound to happen. Ralph Bakshi was the first in 1978, but it was Peter Jackson who realised the best-known and best-loved film adaptation. Japanese animation director Kenji Kamiyama now comes up with a new, beautifully animated chapter from the Lord-of-the-Rings universe, with a story set 183 years before the trilogy.
Wulf, the clever and above all ruthless leader of the Dunleding, wants to avenge the death of his father, for which he holds Helm Hammerhand responsible, the legendary king of Rohan. Wulf launches the attack, after which Helm, his daughter Héra and his people are forced to flee to the ancient fortress de Hornburg. Helm's leadership is tested to the limit.
