Perros sin cola

Life in the slums of the port city of Antofagasta is a daily struggle, both at home and in the streets. Rosario, a teenager, doesn't get along with her mother, who keeps pandering to her good-for-nothing boyfriend. After attacking a classmate, Rosario is expelled from school. Breakdance is an outlet for her pent-up anger. She finds peace and support with her best friend Jonathan, a street hawker who sells knick-knacks to raise money for his sister's wedding.

Combining a calm pace with an energetic visual style and documentary intermezzos, Perros sin cola connects the experiences of the characters to the reality of this place. This slice-of-life film shows how, in their own way, they all struggle to stay afloat. On the long-awaited wedding night, everyone's repressed feelings eventually spill out.

Octubre
Mapa Fílmico de un país  | Chile |  2020 |  14’ | Spanish spoken | English subtitles
Footage from late 2019, in the first weeks of protests, capturing the scale of the movement. Octubre goes beyond the clashes on the streets, following demonstrators home and standing as a monument to those who lost their lives.

Soñe que vivía
Eymeraude Cordon Le Beurier | Chile | 2021 |  29’ | Spanish spoken | English subtitles
Inspired by the life of Alejandra Carrasco Malio, Soñe que vivía depicts the isolation of teenage motherhood. Ale is caught between her revolutionary desires, the stifling repetition of domesticity and a system that fails to protect young mothers.

CAROLINA QUEZADA (Chile) studied film at the University of Valparaíso. She worked on films including Alejandro Jodorowsky’s La danza de la realidad and José Luis Torres Leiva’s El viento sabe que vuelvo a casa, and was assistant director on Manuel Ferrari’s De la noche a la mañana.
