Evolution
The triptych Evolution, based on a play by Kata Wéber, poignantly shows how the pain and stigmas of World War II are passed from generation to generation. The film, directed by Kornél Mundruczó, is based on a play by Kata Wéber.
The trilogy begins as a surreal memory of World War II and ends in modern Berlin. In the first part of this triptych, a baby miraculously manages to survive Auschwitz. This Eva is in the next part the mother of Léna, who resists the Jewish survival mentality. The drama ends with the love story of Jonas, the teenage grandson who falls in love with Yasmin in present-day Berlin. The pain and stigma are passed on from generation to generation, from Eva to Léna to Jonas.
