Drii Winter

In a remote mountain village in the picturesque Swiss Alps, Anna, a farmer's daughter from a close-knit community, meets the taciturn, hired farmhand Marco. As a single mother, Anna takes care of her daughter from a previous relationship in addition to her several jobs. The gentle giant Marco turns out to be not only a decent worker of the rough country but also an extremely suitable life partner and surrogate father. Completely immersed in love, the lovers dance to "What Is Love?" by Haddaway to a seemingly bright future. Then fate strikes and Marco turns out to be very seriously ill. This drastic event not only tests their fledgling love, but also raises the tension within the village community to unprecedented levels thanks to Marco's capricious and unpredictable behavior.

Drii Winter, the second feature film by Swiss director Michael Koch, received a special mention from the Jury of Competition Films at the Berlin Film Festival 2022. A gripping film about love, guilt, penance and forgiveness, in which Michèle Band shines as Anna, who fights to maintain a love she believes can even surpass death.
