Tori et Lokita
Two teenagers have fled West Africa and ended up in Belgium. The harsh reality of refugee life brings Tori (Pablo Schils) and Lokita (Joely Mbundu) close to each other. Together, they try to build a life as brother and sister. They make a living with a job at a rather shady pizzeria. A residence permit proves difficult to obtain, so they are cornered from various sides. Tori and Lokita seem invisible to the world around them, but fortunately they have each other.
The first film that the Dardenne brothers made together dates back to 1978. Since then, they have made countless beautiful films, in which they always portray with compassion and realism the fate of people who are not fortunate - think of films like Rosetta, Le gamin au vélo and Deux jours, une nuit. Their new film, Tori et Lokita, is no exception. At the last Cannes Film Festival, the film was awarded the special 75th Anniversary Prize.
