Femi

As the birth of his first child begins to approach, unstable Dennis (21) must face the loss of his Nigerian father who died at a young age to come to terms with himself. He was never really able to reconcile with the death of his father, who took his own life, and has been struggling with severe depression and suicidal thoughts ever since. In an attempt to escape it all, Dennis visits an old friend of his father's, the Ifa priest Raffi, and forces him to curse him. The curse leads to a self-insight that will turn his life upside down.

Femi is Dwight Fagbamila's intense feature debut - a cinematic journey that explores complex themes of parenthood, guilt & penance, repressed racism, alienation and identity. Starring an impressive Yannick Jozefzoon as the severely tormented Dennis. Fagbamila was born and raised in Eindhoven, so the film was shot there.
