The Eastern Neighbors Film Festival, which annually presents the best and most relevant films from Eastern Europe in The Hague, is going on tour and will also visit Rialto De Pijp. On Saturday, October 22, it will present the Dutch premiere of the feature film May Labour Day by Bosnian director Pjer Zalica. This will be a special premiere because writer Antonije Nino Žalica will be present.

After the screening there will be the traditional ENFF cocktail party on Rialto's entresol.

May Labor Day

After ten years of living in Germany, Armin returns to Sarajevo with his newly wedded German wife. He wants to surprise his father Fudo who doesn’t know that he got married. However, the lock on the door has been changed and his father is not there. Shockingly, he learns from the neighbors that Fudo has been arrested on war crimes charges. While all this is happening, the neighborhood is preparing for the Labor Day celebration, and everyone is busy arranging food and drinks. They do not want to accept that Fudo is a war criminal. Armin is determined to get to the bottom of it in order to find out what really happened.

Pjer Zalica is back with his new film that officially closed the last Sarajevo Film Festival and attained great success. Well known Bosnian actors (Jasna Zalica, Emir Hadzihafizbegovic, Admir Glamocak), as well as actors from North Macedonia (Labina Mitevska) and Serbia (Boris Isakovic) interpreted their complex characters subtly and captivating.
