Deze voorstelling maakt deel uit van Rialto Filmclub met als gastspreker deze maand Ernst-Jan Pfauth.

It is a fine tradition: every year, the best and most beautiful films from IDFA tour the country. This year too. Rialto VU and Rialto De Pijp are two of the theatres where the Tour passes, with three special and award-winning films. On Saturday 21 January at Rialto VU and Saturday 25 February at Rialto De Pijp.

It is a long programme, but both between the first and second films, and the second and third films, there is a half-hour intermission.

Please take note: the films have Dutch subtitles.

Paradise

Alexander Abaturov | France, Switzerland | 2022 | 88' | Dutchsubtitles
A heatwave in Siberia leads to massive forest fires. Villagers join forces to contain the fire, which they call The Dragon. Visually strong film about the inferno that climate change can cause.

Winner IDFA Award for Best Cinematography in the International Competition

Reis door onze wereld (Journey Through Our World)

Petra Lataster-Czisch & Peter Lataster | Netherlands | 2022 | 113' | Dutch, Russian spoken | Dutch subtitles
The first corona year through the eyes of documentary veterans Petra and Peter Lataster, who lovingly point the camera at their shrunken world. Their calm report captures the wonder of this unique historical period.

Winner IDFA Award for Best Editing in the International Competition and IDFA Award for Best Dutch Film

Apolonia, Apolonia

Lea Glob | Denmark, Poland, France | 2022 | 116' | French, Polish, English, Danish spoken | Dutch subtitles
Portrait of the artist as a young woman. Apolonia is talented, but is that enough to make a break through in the art world? An impressive film that covers thirteen years from an anything but average life.
