The Fabelmans

The prestigious Golden Globes were recently awarded in Beverly Hills. Big winner this time was Steven Spielberg's The Fabelmans; this highly autobiographical coming-of-age story won both the Best Picture and Best Direction awards.

In the 1950s, young Sammy Fabelman is taken to the cinema for the first time by his parents Mitzi and Burt. There he sees the spectacular circus drama The Greatest Show on Earth. The scene in which a train derails fascinates him so much that he re-enacts that scene with model trains. His mother suggests he capture that train disaster on film and he does - his great passion is born. As a teenager, he enlists all his friends to make short westerns and war films, which his mother loves. His father, on the other hand, thinks it is an out-of-control hobby - an indication that the marriage between the two has had its best days. Starring Gabriel LaBelle, Michelle Williams and Paul Dano.
