Dalva
Twelve-year-old Dalva is not like other girls her age; she dresses like a grown woman, is always neatly made up and, in her own opinion, has an equal and voluntary love affair with her father. So great is her dismay when one evening the police raid and arrest her father. She herself is placed in a youth crisis shelter. There, she has no idea how to behave and interact with fellow residents. With the help of a caring social worker, her roommate Samia and a therapist, Dalva not only discovers that her relationship with her father was different from what she thought after all, she also learns what it is like to be a child.
In this directorial debut, director Emmanuelle Nicot tackles a particularly thorny subject, but by telling the story through the child's eyes, it is a subtly and with integrity delivered. It earned her several film awards, includingthe Audience Award at the last edition of IFFR..
