Asteroid City
It may sound strange, a mix of drama, science fiction and romantic comedy. But there may be no director better suited to make something beautiful and interesting out of that than Wes Anderson. With films such as The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, The Grand Budapest Hotel and The French Dispatch, he has proved he can weave together curious, sometimes absurd storylines into a unique whole like no other. He does so with beautiful sets, very special camera work and an all-star cast. For his new film Asteroid City, for instance, he managed to enlist Tom Hanks, Tilda Swinton, Scarlett Johansson and Edward Norton, among others.
The year is 1955: in the small town of Asteroid City, somewhere in the desert, a convention is being organised for young Stargazers and Space Cadets. The intention is for schoolchildren and their parents to come together for a scientific competition, but mostly to strengthen bonds of friendship.
