Tengo sueños eléctricos

16-year-old Eva's parents are divorced and the atmosphere in the house is terrible. While her mother tries to shake off her previous life with her abusive husband, Eva rebels by clinging precisely to her father. She longs to live with him, away from her mother and sister whom she finds insufferable. One problem: her father is as adrift as his adolescent teenage daughter. In their search for stability, they direct their confusion and anger at each other. Eva discovers that, for the adults in her life, it is not all plain sailing either.

This film, Valentina Maurel's directorial debut, is a raw coming-of-age drama focusing on the thin line between love and hate. For her film, Maurel returned to Costa Rica, the country where she grew up. Among other awards at the Locarno Film Festival.
