Golda

6 October, 1973: it is Yom Kippur, Great Day of Atonement, and on this very holy day, which is so important for Israel, Egypt and Syria launch a surprise attack on Israel in an attempt to recapture Sinai and the Golan Heights, territories lost after the 1967 Six-Day War. Prime minister at the time was Golda Meir, nicknamed Israel's 'Iron Lady'. The attack took her and her cabinet completely by surprise, but nevertheless she must avert the danger; Israel's survival is at stake. However, her cabinet consists entirely of men, including Defence Minister Moshe Dayan, who are not exactly willing to cooperate. Meanwhile, the clock is ticking inexorably.

Israeli director Guy Nattiv, who won an Oscar in 2019 with his short film Skin, tells the story of this war through the eyes of Golda Meir, the woman who sees her country plunged into an almost hopeless situation. Renowned English actress Helen Mirren portrays Meir with verve.
