About Dry Grasses

After his fourth compulsory year of service as an art teacher in a remote place in Anatolia, Samet cannot wait for a transfer to Istanbul. He is ready for a fresh start and is eager to escape his dreary life. However, some unexpected events that Samet cannot comprehend throw a spanner in the works, after which he loses all hope. Then he meets Nuray, a colleague who helps him put his doubts and fears into a new perspective.

The work of Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan, often compared to Ingmar Bergman, often centres on themes such as alienation and monotony in human existence, portrayed in his own unique style. Internationally, his films are therefore highly appreciated, as evidenced by the many prestigious awards his films have won. With About Dry Grasses, he delivers another masterpiece.
