Forty years ago now, in December 1983, four legendary concerts by the now equally legendary band Talking Heads took place at the Pantage Theatre in Hollywood. The concerts, given to promote their then-new album Speaking in Tongues, were captured by director Jonathan Demme, who would score a big hit a few years later with Silence of the Lambs. One night he used to be able to film the band in its entirety from a distance, without cameramen walking around on stage, the other nights he filmed up close on stage.

He combined these four recordings into one film, a concert registration that makes sparks fly. And of course all famous songs pass by, including Psycho Killer, Once in a Lifetime and Burning Down the House. Also not missing: frontman David Byrne's absurdly wide business suit, reportedly inspired by the costumes worn in traditional Japanese noh and kabuki theatre.
