Bob Marley: One Love
No Woman No Cry, I Shot the Sheriff and, of course, One Love: these are just a few of the many hits scored by Bob Marley and his band The Wailers (with Pete Tosh and Bunny Livingston, among others). Marley, born in 1945, was undoubtedly the man who introduced the world to reggae, the musical style that originated in Jamaica. In his lyrics, he advocated tolerance and love, and vehemently opposed all forms of oppression. His life did not always go smoothly: in 1976 people tried to assasinate him, and a year later his first health problems presented themselves, which would eventually become fatal in 1981. But we still remember him mostly for his fantastic music.
American director Reinaldo Marcus Green filmed the compelling life of this reggae legend in close collaboration with Marley's family. Starring Kingsley Ben-Adir as Marley and Lashana Lynch as his wife Rita in the lead roles.
