La chimera
1980s: a group of Italian grave robbers welcome the return from prison of their friend Arthur, a British archaeologist who has the rare gift of using a divining rod to find Etruscan tombs. The ancient grave goods are then up for grabs and sold for a lot of money to the mysterious art collector Spartaco. But Arthur is actually mostly preoccupied with the loss of his beloved Beniamina. He visits her mother Flora, who has not yet let go of her daughter. Then he meets Italia, Flora's former maid and singing student. There is a click between the two, but is he ready for something new?
Director Alice Rorhwacher, best known for Le meraviglie and Lazzaro felice, tells the sad story of lost love in her new, now critically acclaimed film. She does so with humour and in such an imaginative, inventive way that the story moves almost imperceptibly between dream and reality. With, among others, Josh O'Connor, Isabella Rosselini and (sister) Alba Rorhwacher.
