Capote

In 1959, the Clutter family is murdered on their farm in Kansas. The two perpetrators, Perry Smith and Dick Hickock are soon caught. Writer Truman Capote reads about the murder in the newspaper and becomes fascinated by the story. So much so that he, along with writer friend Harper Lee, decides to travel to Kansas to find out more about the murder. And he succeeds; indeed, he even manages to gain access to the prison where the killers are locked up. He talks to Perry Smith a lot and develops a special bond with him in the years that follow. Surely Capote's main concern is the journalistic novel he wants to write: In Cold Blood.

Capote is a film of uncommon strength and insight, about a man whose great achievement requires the surrender of his self-respect,’ wrote renowned film critic Roger Ebert. That man is brilliantly portrayed by Philip Seymour Hoffman, who was awarded an Oscar for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role. He died in 2014.
