In Restless Dreams: the Music of Paul Simon
Paul Simon - undoubtedly one of the most influential songwriters in the world of pop music. And he has been for a very long time: his career spans sixty years, years that have had countless (musical) highs, but also many (personal) lows.
It all started in 1953 at a primary school in Queens, New York. There, 12-year-old Paul Simon met his peer and musical soul mate Art Garfunkel. The rest is history: as Simon & Garfunkel, they scored many now iconic hits. Personal issues drove the two apart. But that did not end Simon's musical career, think of the 1986 release of Graceland, recorded partly in South Africa, an album as successful as it was controversial.
In 2023, Simon began work on his new album Seven Psalms. Reason for filmmaker Alex Gibney to look back at Simon's musical life in detail. He does so in depth, with a lot of love and, of course, with just as much music.
