Paris, Texas
He starred in hundreds of film and TV series - Harry Dean Stanton (1926-2017), the man with the so characteristic, furrowed and troubled head. But they were always supporting roles. Until, in the 1980s, director Wim Wenders and his screenwriter Sam Shepard asked him to play the lead role in Paris, Texas, a story about a lost soul trying to get his life back on track. Not only Stanton's acting, but also Robby Müller's camerawork and Ry Cooder's unforgettable score made the film an instant classic, which won the Golden Palm at Cannes, among other awards. Also starring Nastassja Kinski and Dean Stockwell.
After disappearing from the face of the earth for years, the taciturn Travis (Stanton) resurfaces in a desert in southern Texas. Back among the living, he makes contact with his brother in Los Angeles, with whom his infant son Hunter lives. He includes Hunter in his search for his missing wife Jane (Kinski).
