‘Hoist the sails for a bigger adventure,’ reads the poster of Vaiana 2, the sequel to the highly successful 2016 animated musical film Vaiana. And that is no exaggeration, as in this new film, the young but fearless title heroine has incredible adventures like she has never experienced before. Once again, the (singing) voices of Auli'i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson can be heard.

Three years after her previous adventure, Vaiana receives a very unexpected message from her ancestors, after which she sets off on another journey, this time to the distant, unknown seas of Oceania. There, on the hidden island of Motufetu, she must break the curse of the god Nalo. For only if she succeeds in doing so can she reconnect all the people and communities of Oceania. She is not alone, as she is also helped in this adventure by her good friend, the demigod Maui.
