Nosferatu
In 1922, the vampire Count Orlok made his first appearance on the big screen in German director F.W. Murnau's Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens, an absolute highlight of expressionist cinema. More than half a century later, Werner Herzog made a remake with Klaus Kinski as the lonely but bloodthirsty count: Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht. Count Orlok continues to capture the imagination: 45 years after Herzog, Robert Eggers, known for The Witch and The Lighthouse, among others, breathes new life into the count in grand gothic fashion. Underlying all this is Bram Stoker's 1897 novel Dracula.
The terrifying vampire Count Orlok, Evil Incarnate, has taken up deep feelings for Ellen Hutter, a young, very troubled woman. These feelings take on obsessive forms, with horrific consequences. Professor Albin Eberhart von Franz knows what is going on, but how to stop Orlok? With Bill Skarsgård, Lily-Rose Depp and Willem Dafoe.
