The Glassworker
A young, gifted Vincent and his father Tomas run the finest glass workshop in the country and find their lives upended by an impending war. When an army colonel and his aspiring violinist daughter, Alliz, arrive in town, it shakes the reality of the father-son duo. Love blooms between Vincent and Alliz against their father’s wishes, and their relationship receives the ultimate test as the looming war threatens to tear them apart.
The Glassworker is Pakistan’s first hand-drawn animated film, a singular achievement 10 years in the making. Inspired by the films of Studio Ghibli, director Usman Riaz set out with a team of passionate animation lovers to craft a film with much love and care. The final product is brimming with colour and fine detail, and above all, it is a story of humans overcoming difference amidst conflict, guided by the fervent belief that love can prevail.
