Vingt Dieux
Like all his friends in the village, 18-year-old Totone leads a carefree life consisting mostly of drinking beers and partying. Everything changes when his father is killed in a car accident, as suddenly he is responsible for raising his 7-year-old sister Claire. Not only does he have to say goodbye to his old life, he also has to find a job and earn money. When he finds a job at a cheese factory, he discovers there is an interesting competition: whoever makes the tastiest Comté cheese wins €30,000. He likes the sound of that and in good spirits he sets to work. But making a tasty Comté is far from easy.
In this enjoyable and light comedy, her first full-length film, director Louise Courvoisier shows what it is like to have to grow up in the shadow of loss. She does so with a cast composed entirely of non-professional actors, including lead actor Clément Faveau. Awarded the Prix de la Jeunesse at Cannes.
