Feis Forever

New Year's Eve 2019 should have been so festive for Rotterdam based Faisal Mssyeh, better known as rapper Feis, but it turned into a tragedy. He accidentally got involved in a bar brawl in Rotterdam-West and was shot. In hospital, he died. He was only 32. A shock wave went through not only the city, but also the Dutch hip-hop scene, as Feis was one of the protagonists of Rotterdam's leading hip-hop scene in the Netherlands.

This documentary by Olivier S. Garcia portrays the all-too-short life of the man who developed from a raucous street rapper into a mature hip-hop artist, exposing his inner struggles in his poetic lyrics. Garcia does so using home videos and interviews with friends, including music producer Kees de Koning, and rappers Winne and U-niq. Feis himself can also be heard. It becomes clear that Feis' musical legacy is still alive and kicking - a source of inspiration for Rotterdam and for everyone who loves true hip-hop.
