The Salt Path
Life sometimes has unpleasant surprises, as fifty-somethings Raynor and Moth Winn discover. Following business misfortune the couple has gone bust, and with it they have lost not only their income but also their home. Not long after, Moth is diagnosed with a serious neurological disease. With an almost empty bank account, a tent and some loose gear, they decide to walk the South West Coast Path, a more than 1,000 km long footpath along the coasts of Cornwall, Devon and Dorset. Along the way, they are confronted with whimsical nature, unpredictable weather and sometimes unfriendly people, but most of all with themselves.
In 2018, Raynor Winn published The Salt Path, a walking and nature guide, but above all a gripping account of the journey Winn made with her husband. British director Marianne Elliott filmed it, it is her feature debut, starring Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs.
