Out of a great need to be better represented as a queer person, I started to focus the camera on me and my loved ones . My interest lies mainly in making intimate portraits and everything that comes with it, by exploring subjects like sexuality, identity and relationships."

When the body says Yes

melanie bonajo | Netherlands | 2023 | 40'
In a world where everything has become a commodity, loneliness has reached epidemic proportions, according to artist, filmmaker, sexological body worker and somatic sex coach and educator melanie bonajo. In this immersive video installation, bonajo shows that touch, skin-to-skin contact, could be a powerful remedy against this. bonajo: "You don't learn love in isolation. If you have felt it, another person has probably felt it too."

bonajo brought together a group of genderqueer people, many of whom have bi-cultural identities, to delve deeper into sexuality outside Western discourse. How does the body respond to closeness and touch? Do you know the sensory dimensions of your No? And how do you feel when your body says Yes?
