La machine à écrire
Former psychiatric patient Patrice lives on his own again, but still comes almost every day to Adamant, the boat located in the Seine where (ex-)psychiatric patients are taken care of. For there he writes his poems, two every day, to type them out later at home on his typewriter. When that typewriter breaks down, a catastrophe for Patrice, Adamant doctor Linda De Zitter, clinical psychologist and wife of Philibert, sends two handymen to Patrice who fix the typewriter for him. And like Patrice, there are more people, who, by helping them with such things, gain a greater sense of self-worth; they count too.
After Sur l'Adamant (2023) and Averroès & Rosa Parks (2024), this is the closing part of Nicolas Philibert's triptych about the people behind psychiatric healthcare. Three films that essentially tell a story of humanity, where everything revolves around trust, real contact and an unbiased willingness to listen.
