As It is in Heaven
Top conductor Daniel Daréus decides to take it easy after a heart attack and moves back to his home village of Norrland in the far north of Sweden, a place he remembers with mixed feelings. The local church has a choir and, naturally, a local shopkeeper asks him to take the choir in hand. Reluctantly, he agrees. Nevertheless, he manages to turn the choir into an excellent ensemble. This has many consequences, as in doing so he not only makes friends but also jealous enemies, including the vicar who used to lead the choir . Meanwhile, Daniel falls in love with Lena, one of the choir members.
This melodrama of unadulterated Scandinavian flavour was a huge hit in Sweden with over a million visitors. And it did well internationally too: for instance, As It is in Heaven was nominated for the Oscar Best Non-English Speaking Film. Michael Nyqvist plays the lead role.
