Zwei zu eins

Summer, 1990: East and West Germany are about to be reunited. In Halberstadt, East Germany, married couple Maren and Robert and their friend Volker begin to notice trucks driving back and forth to a storage complex near their home. They are curious and manage to gain access to the complex via via. To their surprise, there turn out to be billions in Ostmarken, the GDR's money. The money is worthless, they think, because the D-Mark has recently been introduced. Until a salesman tells them they still have a few days to use the GDR money. They devise a clever little plan with which they intend to outwit capitalism.

Director Natja Brunckhorst, who played Christiane F. in the eponymous film over 40 years ago, scored a huge hit in Germany with this light-hearted, self-written GDR comedy, a nostalgic story based on true events. Starring, among others, Sandra Hüller, Max Riemelt and Ronald Zehrfeld.
