Caught Stealing
New York, 1990s: Hank Thompson was a baseball phenomenon in high school, but those days are long gone. But he's not doing too badly: he has a nice girlfriend and works as a bartender in a pub. And when his neighbour, punk Ross, asks him to look after his cat for a few days, he naturally agrees. But then strange things start happening. Suddenly, Hank finds himself dealing with a parade of grim and criminal types who want something from him: a sadistic policeman, Russian gangsters, a Samoan hitman and two psychopathic brothers dressed in leather. The problem is, Hank has no idea what they actually want from him...
Charlie Huston's crime novel Caught Stealing was published in 2004. Director Darren Aronofsky, known for The Wrestler, Black Swan and mother!, among others, adapted it for the screen, while Huston himself wrote the screenplay. Austin Butler plays the lead role in this thriller told with black humour.
