Director Petr Lom and producer Corinne van Egeraat will be present at this special pre-premiere to answer questions from the audience after the film.
The Coriolis Effect
The Coriolis effect explains the deflection of an object in a rotating system. Such as air and ocean currents on Earth.
Cape Verde, an archipelago off the west coast of Africa, is considered the birthplace of hurricanes. It is a beautiful place, but also one where the disturbed relationship between humans and nature is clearly visible. Take the sea turtles, animals that are born here on the beaches and return there when they themselves lay eggs. Magnificent animals, which play the leading role in countless creation myths; they carry the earth or are the earth itself. The sex of their offspring depends on the temperature, and if it continues to rise, only females will be born.
Czech director Petr Lom (of I Am the River, the River is Me, among others) shows it all in this ecological documentary. And he does so in breathtakingly beautiful images and with music by Cape Verdean composer Vasco Martins.
