Miroirs No. 3
Laura from Berlin takes a road trip to the countryside with her boyfriend, but it all goes wrong when they have a serious accident, killing her boyfriend. Laura is miraculously unharmed, but in shock. She is taken in by Betty, who saw it all happen. Betty lives with her husband and son in a beautiful country house, not far from the scene of the accident. Laura is lovingly and carefully taken in, and she enjoys it so much that she completely surrenders to Betty's warm family life. After a while, however, Laura notices that something is not right. For example, whose clothes is she given to wear?
In this intimate, mysterious story about despair, loss and love, Laura is played by Paula Beer, the muse of director Christian Petzold. The film's title refers to Maurice Ravel's impressionistic piano suite Miroirs. The third part, Une barque sur l'océan, evokes the journey of a small boat across the waves of the ocean.
