Mijn woord tegen het mijne
It is estimated that one in ten people hear voices. Filmmaker Maasja Ooms shows how this phenomenon radically changes people's lives, based on the experiences of five people who have to live with voices. And it is different for everyone; one person has one voice, another nineteen, one voice wants to protect, another calls for violence. Where do these voices come from, who are they, why are they there and what do they actually want?
Ooms takes the viewer into the world of the five main characters. They find themselves in a therapeutic setting in which a psychiatrist, unseen by us, engages in conversation with these people and their voices. It is a revolutionary approach that offers patients insight into and acceptance of what is going on in their heads. Not only does it become clear that past traumas play a major role, but also that the world of the human mind is as fascinating as it is unfathomable.
