Horizonte

In 2015, Colombian director César Augusto Acevedo made a big impression with his debut film La Tierra y la Sombra. Nine years later, he made his second film: Horizonte, a beautifully shot magical-realistic, psychological, and philosophical drama about war and the destructive nature of man. The film stars Claudio Cataño and Paulina García, best known for her title role in Sebastián Lelio's Gloria (2013).

Basilio (Cataño) wanders through a cemetery in search of his mother Iñes (García). He eventually finds her in a small house across a large field. During the war, she remained faithful to her belief in humanity, while he became a soldier. Both have since passed away, but their restless spirits decide to embark on a search for his missing father. The journey takes them through the unexplored world of his memories, where he is confronted with victims, friends, and tormentors, and above all with the man he has become. It becomes a quest for redemption.
