Resurrection
In an unspecified future where humans have given up the ability to dream in exchange for immortality, there remain Deliriants who have refused to leave the dreamworld. Searching after one such Deliriant, a mysterious woman travels through the Deliriant’s dreams, following him through illusion, beauty, and haunting visions spanning a century of Chinese and cinematic history.
Resurrection is the latest cinematic odyssey by Bi Gan, the leading auteur of his generation, and a hypnotic fever dream that transports the viewer into a world of visual phantasmagoria. Told in 6 chapters that range from the silent era of German expressionism to a colour-drenched, rain-soaked vampire romance, the film is a love letter to cinema and a rumination on those eternal questions of existence, reality, and being. Winner of the Prix Spécial at Cannes, Resurrection promises nothing short of a spellbinding sensorial journey, a visionary director pushing the boundaries of his craft once again.
