Michael
Michael Jackson, also known as The King of Pop – a musical genius, a brilliant dancer, an artist with an immense artistic legacy, but also an artist with a controversial lifestyle, due to his eccentric behaviour and his rather overly friendly manner towards young children. Where these two sides of one and the same person originate becomes clear in this biopic, which portrays Jackson from his childhood right up to his definitive breakthrough with his album Thriller.
Jackson, born in 1958, was the eighth child in a family of ten. His father, steelworker Joseph Jackson, raised his children with a very firm hand. It soon became clear that the family was highly musical; in the 1960s, Michael and four of his brothers formed the hugely successful The Jackson 5, with Michael as the lead singer. In the early 1970s, Michael’s career as a solo artist began. The rest is history…
Alongside Jackson’s life off stage, director Antoine Fuqua also treats the viewer to iconic performances. Jackson’s nephew Jaafar Jackson plays the lead role.
