Love Me Tender

Lawyer Clémence was married to Laurent for many years, but they parted ways on friendly terms years ago. They still see each other regularly, mainly to discuss their son Paul, who is now eight years old. Everything changes when Clémence tells him that she has started dating women. The offended Laurent reacts very hostile, cuts off all contact and now wants full custody of their son. Naturally, Clémence refuses. What follows is a years-long battle, not only for the right to continue seeing her son, but also to freely discover and explore her sexuality. A difficult and painful struggle.

In 2015, lawyer Constance Debré left her husband and child to move in with a woman, after which she lost custody of the child. She also gave up her job to become a full-time writer. In 2020, her partly autobiographical novel Love me tender was published, which has now been adapted for the screen by Anna Cazenave Cambet. Cambet and Debré co-wrote the screenplay, with Vicky Krieps playing the lead role.
